Laccaria laccata var pallidifolia (Peck) Peck 1912

Red List Status -

Description

Pileus: convex with an umbilicus; 20 -50 mm diameter; glabrous, innately striate; whitish to pallid pinkish brown; margin slightly sulcate.

Stipe: cylindrical or sub-clavate, hollow; 20 - 60 × 3 - 7 mm; glabrous; reddish brown with a white tomentum at the base.

Gills: adnexed to adnate; moderately distant; flesh pink; with lamellulae in two series.

Spore print: white.

Spores: subglobose; 9.5 – 13.5 µm, echinulate.

Notes: this Laccaria is not easy to recognize in the field but its ‘bleached’ look may give a clue to its identity. This species is present in New Zealand and the USA but the New Caledonia collection is unlikely to be identical.
