Taxonomy

Leratia atrovirens Heim (1968)

Red List Status -

Description

Pileus: secotoid, hemispherical, lobed; 10 – 30 mm diameter; glabrous; slightly viscid; very bright blue green.

Stipe: tapering; 8 –15× 4 –8 mm; glabrous; white.

Hymenium: loculate.

Flesh: white.

Spore print: blackish?

Spores: ellipsoid; 15 – 19 × 7.5 – 9.5 µm.

Notes: this fungus is mainly distinguished by its strong blue green secotoid cap and white stipe. It is separated from L.R. smaragdina by its much larger spores. Recent sequencing studies have demonstrated that this is in a Psathyrella clade and not in Leratiomyces. Redhead & McNeill have declared the current name invalid so we have reverted to Heim’s earlier name of Le Ratia.
