Description
Pileus: secotoid, hemispherical, lobed; 10 – 20 mm diameter; glabrous; slightly viscid; very bright red.
Stipe: tapering; 2 –8× 2 –4 mm; glabrous to pruinose;white.
Hymenium: loculate with large locules; white.
Flesh: white.
Spore print: blackish?
Spores: ellipsoid; 13 – 17 × 8.5 – 12.5 µm.
Notes: this fungus is mainly distinguished by its strong red secotoid cap and white stipe. Recent sequencing studies have failed to place this species in Leratiomyces. Redhead & McNeill have declared the name invalid so we have reverted to Heim’s earlier name of Le Ratia.
