Description

Cap: campanulate; 20 - 30 mm diameter; subtomentose, matt; orange to orange buff; margin faintly sulcate.

Stipe: cylindrical; 35 – 60 × 2 - 3 mm; glabrous; very dark shiny red brown becoming paler at apex.

Gills: adnate; moderately close, cream with an orange gill edge.  

Flesh: tough, white.

Smell: none.

Spore print: white.

Spores: subfusiform; 9 - 12 × 4.5 - 6.5; smooth.

Notes: this Marasmius is characterized by its orange cap, gills with an orange edge and a shiny redblack stipe. It is probably a native species that resembles M. elegans.
