Description

Fruit body: subglobose; 10 - 25 mm tall, 10 - 30 mm diameter; pale fawn to white; outer surface glabrous, overlain with white scurfy material resembling velar remains which appear to be arranged in a reticulate pattern on older specimens; inner wall opens by a pore to release the spores.

Stipe: absent; white rhizoids attach the fruiting body to the substrate.

Flesh: white.

Gleba (Spore mass): olive-brown at maturity; flesh in base thin, white and firm.

Spores:

Notes: this puffball is recognised by its subglobose shape and pale fawn to white colours. It grows on wood. This is probably Morganella subincarnatum, but further microscopic information might help to confirm that diagnosis.
