Gills: adnate; greyish lilac.
Flesh: thin, white.
Spore print: white.

Notes: this Mycena is characterized by its quite large (for a Mycena) lilac brown fruiting bodies, growing in litter. The NC collection is almost certainly not M. pura from the northern hemisphere. It does not appear to be M. fuscovinacea (NZ) or M. vinacea (Australia) either. Most likely to be an undescribed species in the genus Prunulus. Maas & Horak and Corner also discuss this group which is in need of further taxonomic work.
