Fruiting body: irregular cup; 30 – 80 mm diameter; inner surface glabrous, olivaceous brown; outer surface pubescent, scurfy, almost black, margin wavy in older larger specimens.

Stipe: absent; anchored to the ground by a more or less central point of attachment..

Notes:this collection is characterised by the glabrous olivaceous brown interior of the cup with a scurfy almost black exterior. Does not seem to be identical to the European species. Microscopic details needed for a firm determination. This species may have been moved to Plecaria.
