Description
Cap: convex with an umbo; 50-120 mm diameter; densely covered in gelatinous scales; golden yellow, scales red brown; margin inrolled.
Stipe: cylindrical, caespitose, often curved; 20 - 50 × 5–10 mm; squamulose below ring zone; yellowish with brown scales.
Gills: adnate; yellow becoming rusty brown at maturity.
Spore print: brown.

Notes: this Pholiota is characterized by its glutinous scaly yellow and red brown cap, caespitose habit and yellow gills.
