Fruiting body: cup; 40 – 80mm diameter; inner surface glabrous, black, shiny; outer surface pubescent, scurfy, irregularly wrinkled, almost black; margin distinctly paler and dentate.

Stipe: central, irregular; black, wrinkled.

Notes: this collection is characterised by the glabrous black  interior of the cup with a wrinkled black exterior and a dentate margin.
