Description

Cap: fan-shaped; 30-45 mm diameter; glabrous, shiny when wet; surface with radially arranged black ridges on an ochraceous background; margin acute, lobed.

Stipe: lateral; cylindrical, inflated at point of attachment; 20 – 30 × 4 – 5 mm; fuscous, rugulose, finely velutinate.

Pores: decurrent; round or angular; greyish white; 0.5 mm. deep; very small, 7-8 per mm.

Flesh: leathery, corky.

Spore print: white.

Notes: This fungus is recognizedby its fan shaped fruiting body with  black radially arranged ridges,  laterally attached  by as black stipe and with very small (7 – 8 per mm) greyish white pores. Difficult to separate from P. dictyopus other than the presence of black ridges.
