Description
Pileus: convex to centrally depressed; 8 - 25 mm diameter; strigose, squamulose, spiculiform (with pointed upright squamules); bright yellow to apricot orange; margin dentate.
Stipe: cylindrical; 15 - 30 × 5 - 10 mm; glabrous;bright yellow to apricot orange.
Gills: deeply decurrent; dichotomous (dividing); white on a yellow background.
Flesh: firm, creamy yellow.
Spore print: white.

Notes: the spiculate cap, bright yellow to apricot colours and dichotomous decurrent gills all fit with Corner’s description of Pterygellus armeniacus. There are however some differences and the microscopic characters have not been checked.
