Fruiting body: clavariod, branched; 30 – 90 mm tall, 30 – 50 mm wide; branches spathulate, palmatifid (flattened, palm like); pale umber with white tips; margins lobed.

Stipe: compressed cylindrical; 15 - 25 × 5 - 8 mm; pale brown

Flesh: tough.

Notes: the clavariod, much branched fruiting bodies with spathulate palmate branches and brown colours suggest this is a Thelephora. This collection has not been examined microscopically, it appears to be close to Corner's description of T. fuscella.
