Description

Cap: campanulate becoming convex; 20 – 40 mms diameter; grey brown on a pinkish background; subviscid when fresh, finely fibrillose; sulcate at margin.

Stipe: cylindrical with a clavate base; 30 - 40 × 2 - 4 mm; white, glabrous; volva, saccate, 4-lobed, dark brown as cap.

Gills: free; crowded; pale pink.

Flesh: white, thin in cap, solid in stipe.

Spore print: pink.

Spores: ellipsoid, 6 – 7.5 × 4 – 5.5 µm; smooth, with slightly thickened wall.

Notes: this collection is characterised by the grey brown cap and white stipe with a grey brown volva.
