Description
Cap: convex to applanate; 25 - 40 mm diameter; glabrous, greasy; white with a pinkish buff centre; margin splitting.
Stipe: cylindrical to clavate; 45 - 50 × 5 - 8 mm; white with a purple tinge at the apex; glabrous, hollow.
Gills: adnexed; moderately spaced; white with a buff tinge; lamellulae in one series.
Flesh: thin, white.
Spore print: white.
Spores: ellipsoid; 12 - 15 × 7 - 9 µm; Q = 1.5; smooth.
Notes: the greasy pinkish white cap with a radially split margin, white stipe and white spore print help to identify this fungus in the field, but microscopic characters may be needed for confirmation. Sequencing shows it to be close to the New Zealand species H. rosella, but that species has much smaller spores.
