Description

Pileus: convex to applanate, with a small umbo; 45 - 55 mm diameter; minutely felty with a pale bloom; fawn.

Stipe: cylindrical; 90 - 100 × 7– 9 mm; striate, white, somewhat tansluscent.

Gills: adnexed, fawn, lamellulae present in two series.

Milk: none observed.

Spore print: white to pale cream.

Notes: this collection was identified as a Russula in the field. Sequencing places it in the same clade as L. subclarkeae. But this does not appear to be identical to the taxa with this name in Australia and New Zealand, nor does it match our earlier collections of Lactifluus aff subclarkeae.

Support
Growing in soils, under Eucalyptus and Leptospermum in wet and dry sclerophyll forests.
