Description
Pileus: convex when young, applanate at maturity; 60 – 70 mm diameter; dry, subtomentose; dark brown.
Stipe: cylindrical to clavate;60 - 90 × 15-20 mm; dry, striate; pale brown at apex, darker below.
Pores: adnate; white, bruising blue.
Flesh: white, becoming brown under the cutis and in the stipe and blue in the pores on exposure to air.

Notes: Although recorded as a Boletus this has many features of Gyroporus.
