Description

Pileus: umbilicate; up  to 35 mm diameter; tomentose; dry.

Stipe: cylindrical; slender, to 70 mm high; with dark incrustations at the base.

Gills: decurrent; golden yellow.

Notes: this fungus was first described from Cuba by Berkeley and Curtis in 1869. It is found in North America. There is a single record in New Caledonia. It may be a mis-identification
