Pileus: convex with a papilla; 8 - 11 mm diameter; covered in fibrillose squamules, especially towards the margin; dry, dark brown fading to pale orange red; margin striate.

Stipe: cylindrical; 12 - 15 × 1 - 1.5 mm; pale orange brown; fibrillose.

Gills: adnate to subdecurrent; deep chocolate brown, edges pale to whitish.

Flesh: whitish.

Spore print: dark brown.

Spores: globose, rhombic; 5.5 - 6 × 4 - 4.5 µm; smooth, with a germ pore.  

Notes: this fungus is small and brown and best recognized by its microscopic characters.
