Pileus: convex becoming planoconvex to centrally depressed; 20 - 40 mm diameter;dry; yellow brown.

Stipe: cylindrical; 40 - 50 × 5–7 mm; pruinose; dry; concolourous with pileus with a slight purplish tinge at the apex.

Gills: adnexed; moderately distant; ochraceous becoming rust brown as the spores mature; lamellulae in 2 to 3 series.

Notes: this species is reportedly common. Appears to be close the G. ferruginosus.
