Description

Cap: convex, umbilicate; 30-55 mm diameter; densely hispid (hairy); snuff brown and buff, hairs brown with white tips; margin strongly inrolled.

Stipe: cylindrical, usually tapering toward base;20 - 50 × 5 - 8 mm; hispid; snuff brown, hairs with white tips.

Gills: deeply decurrent; pale brown.

Spore print: white

Spores: ellipsoid; 6 – 9 × 3.5 – 4.5 µm; inamyloid.

Notes: this Panus is characterized by its very hairy brown cap and stipe, decurrent gills and wood substrate.
