Pileus: convex to centrally depressed; 30 – 80 mm diameter; velutinate to glabrous; cream to pale buff; margin inrolled at first then entire, sometimes lobed.
Stipe: cylindrical, central; 10 - 40 ×2 - 10 mm; white to pale yellow or pale ochraceous.
Spines: adnexed to subdecurrent; crowded; about 15% offset from vertical; tapering, 3 – 4 mm long; cream to pale ochraceous with a pink tinge
Spore print: white.

Notes: this fungus is recognised by its cream to pale ochraceous colours and spines that are offset from the vertical, cream pale pinkish ochraceous. Recent molecular work has shown Hydnum repandum to be a species complex. Where the New Caledonian collections fit in this new order has not yet been examined
