Description

Pileus: campanulate or conical; 30 - 55 mm diameter; glabrous; orange or red, blackening with age; margin lobed.

Stipe: cylindrical often twisted; 30 - 70 × 5 – 10 mm; glabrous to innately fibrillose; orange with red tones and often white at the base.

Gills: adnexed to free; pale yellow.

Flesh: pale yellow, blackening.

Spore print: white.

Spores: ellipsoid; 8 - 11 × 5 – 6 µm.

Notes

This Hygrocybe is introduced, it has a worldwide distribution. It is easy to identify in the field because of the combination of orange and red colours and the blackening of the whole fungus.
