Description
Pileus: convex with a central depressionto almost infundibuliform; 40 – 120 mm; densely covered in semi erect squamules; dry;chestnut brown, sometimes with an olivaceous tint;with tops of squamules paler; margin inrolled.
Stipe: cylindrical, central or can be excentric; 20 –40× 4 – 13 mm; velutinate becoming squamulose; whitish at apex, brown with tops of squamules paler.
Gills: deeply decurrent; moderately crowded; pale cream to greyishbrown; furcate.
Flesh: thin, almost transluscent, tough.
Spore print: white.
Spores: cylindric; 5 – 7 × 3 – 3.5μm.
Notes: this fungus grows on Araucaria logs. First described from New Caledonia.
