Description

Pileus: convex with a central depressionto almost infundibuliform; 30 – 90 mm; glabrous, smooth; dry; cream or white when young becoming ochraceous with age; margin inrolled.

Stipe: cylindrical, central or can be excentric; 8 –30× 5 – 15 mm; glabrous; white or cream; annulus near apex..

Gills: deeply decurrent; densely crowded; white to pale cream; lamellulae in several (4?) series..

Flesh: quite thick, soft at first becoming tough.

Spore print: white.

Spores: cylindric; 5 – 9 × 1.5 – 2.5μm.

Notes: this fungus grows on dying trees and is recognizable in the field through its pale colours, glabrous cap and the annulus on the stipe. It occurs throughout Australasia. It is eaten in Malaysia.
