Description
Pileus: planoconvex with a central depression; 20 – 70 mm; squamulose with imbricate small to large concentrically arranged squamules; dry;milk white becoming grey at maturity; margin deeply inrolled.
Stipe: cylindrical; 12 –50× 2 – 8 mm; squamulose; white.
Gills: deeply decurrent; moderately crowded; white, becoming pale buff; lamellulae in 4 series.
Flesh: thick, tough.
Spore print: white.
Spores: cylindric; 5.5 – 7.5 × 1.7 – 2.5μm.
Notes: this fungus grows on tree trunks and logs and is recognizable by its milk white cap and stipe and abundant squamules.
