Description
Cap: fan shaped bracket attached by a lateral stipe; 25 - 85 mm diameter; upper surface strongly zonate; tomentose or more often glabrous shiny; zoned with grey, brown, blue and red colours; margin acute.
Stipe: cylindrical but flattened towards cap; 10 – 25 × 4 – 6 mm, tomentose or glabrous; similar range of colours as the cap.
Pores: cream to pale yellow; rounded, regular, 8 – 12 per mm.
Flesh: hard, white to cream.
Smell: none.
Spore print: hyaline.

Notes: This fungus is recognized by its laterally attached fan-like fruiting body with very small (8 – 12 per mm) pores which are white or yellowish. Appears to be very common on Lifou and much more colourful than those found in Queensland.
