Description

Pileus: convex to applanate with a central depression and a small umbo; 25 mm diameter; matt, with concentric rings; bright orange; margin inrolled.

Stipe: tapering towards base; 20 × 3-4 mm; glabrous, matt; orange, scrobiculate with grey scrobicules.

Gills: decurrent to subdecurrent; bifurcating; orange; lamellulae in two series.

Milk: ?

Spore print: orange or white?

Spores: ellipsoid to subglobose; 6.2 - 6.8 × 5.4 - 5.9 µm; with amyloid crests, subreticulate

Notes: this species is Lactarius like but no latex is reported. The small cap with concentric rings developing, scrobiculate stipe, and bifurcating orange gills are good field characters
