Description

Cap: convex to plane, sometimes with slight umbo;10 - 25 mm diameter; viscid, radially grooved; white to brownish to smoky grey centre.

Stipe: cylindrical; 15-25 × 2-3 mm; hyaline white with prominent basal disc.

Gills: adnexed; close; white; with lamellulae in two series.

Flesh: thin, white.

Spore print: white.

Spores: limoniform (pip shaped);7.5-9.5 ×4 -6.5µm; weakly amyloid.

.Notes: this Mycena is characterized by its small fruiting bodies with radially grooved white to brownish cap and white stipe with a distinct basal disc.This fungus is bioluminescent giving of a bluish green light at night. It is not clear whether this is identical to M. chlorophos.
