Description
Fruiting body: ovoid, gasteroid; 40 × 35 mm; golden brown with black warts.
Stipe: rooting stem cylindrical; 40 × 15 mm; solid above ground but with rhizoids below; golden brown.
Flesh: granular ovoid cells surrounded by golden tissue contained in a thick walled and dark staining gleba
Spores: globose to subglobose; 6 - 7.5 × 6 - 7.5 µm; thick walled; with spines.
Notes: Recognised by having a distinct stipe above the ground, which is generally taller than, the diameter of the fruiting body. It also has punctate to spiny spores.
