Description
Fruiting body: clavariod, caespitose, branched; 20 – 50 mm tall, 30 – 50 mm wide; branches palmatifid (flattened, palm like); pale to dark brown to almost sepia.
Stipe: absent or much reduced; pale brown
Flesh: tough.
Spore print: purple brown.
Spores:
Notes: the clavariod, much branched fruiting bodies with palmate branches and brown colours define Thelephora, along with angular lobed spores. This collection has not been examined microscopically and it remains to be confirmed whether it is T. congesta.
