Description
Fruiting body: an extensively lobed jelly fungus which usually has a central point of attachment;8 - 50 mm radius;the texture is soft, gelatinized and moist to touch; it is generally a transluscent yellow to orange colour.
Flesh: gelatinous, solid and yellow to orange, it is thicker when wet.
Spores: ovoid to ellipsoid;10 – 16 × 7 – 8 µm.
Notes: Tremella mesentericais hard to distinguish from T. samoensis as they have similar colouration and form. The latter species has hollow lobes and smaller spores. This Tremella parasitizes other fungi, thought to be Peniophora.
