Description
Fruiting body: subglobose; 20 – 30 mm diameter; outer wall glabrous, white, flakes off at maturity; inner wall matt, lead grey; spores release through a pore at the apex.
Stipe: absent; fruiting body attached to the substrate by thread like mycelial cords which frequently die back freeing the fruiting body to blow away.
Spore print: sepia.

Notes: this puffball is recognized by the white outer skin and the grey inner skin which emerges as the outer one flakes off at maturity.
