Description
Fruiting body: pyriform (pear shaped) to irregularly globose; 80 – 200 mm diameter; glabrous at first, becoming areolate and developing wrinkles and fold resembling a brain;white to pale tan; at maturity the outer layer of the peridium disintegrates releasing the spores.
Stipe: present or absent; 25 – 40 × 25 – 30; pale tan but usually a bit darker than the upper surface; attached to the substrate by well developed rhizoids..
Spore print: brownish green.

Notes: this puffball is recognized by its size, the brain like folds and wrinkles on its surface and its yellow to brownish green spore mass at maturity.
