Description
Fruiting body: pyriform (pear shaped) to irregularly globose; 30 –50 mm diameter; glabrous at first, becoming areolate, matt;pale brown, tan. stains orange yellow on bruising; at maturity the outer layer of the peridium disintegrates releasing the spores.
Stipe: present; 15 – 25× 15 – 25; paler than the upper surface.

Notes: this puffball is recognized by its sizeand the orange yellow staining reaction on bruisingthe surface. It remains to be determined whether this collection and those in Australia and North America are all the same species.
