Description
Fruiting body: convex to funnel shape, irregular; 15 – 35 mm diameter; fibrillose in centre, otherwise glabrous; fawn, fulvous; margin lobed.
Hymenium: decurrent; with irregular folds, violaceous ochre brown, sharply delimited from stipe.
Stipe: cylindrical, attenuated, hollow; 10 – 40 × 3 – 4 mm; glabrous; very pale ochraceous to cream.
Flesh: firm, pale ochraceous.

Notes: This fungus is recognised by the funnel shaped fruiting bodies with decurrent folds that have a violaceous tone, a very clear line between the hymenium and the stipe which is a contrasting pale colour. It is close to Corner’s Cantharellus sordidus but more collections are needed and microscopic characters need checking. Sequencing confirms Cantharellus sp.
