Description

Cap: is a complex of overlapping spathulatebracketsbroadly attached to each other and the substrate; individual spathulae 7 - 30 mm diameter, whole fruiting body 50 – 160 × 30 – 60 mm; upper surface radially striate;cream tovery pale brown.

Stipe: absent.

Pores: irregular, maze like, lacerate as if eroded; some sections may appear to be spinose; white.

Flesh: tough, pale cream.

Spore print: white.

Notes: This fungus is recognized in the field by its large pale coloured, usually complex fruiting bodies with a pale coloured lacerate hymenium which may appear to be spinose. This fungus has changed its name regularly and may also be found under the name Irpex brevis or Antrodiella zonata.
