Fruiting body: simple, clavate, flattened, with a vertical groove in older specimens; 30– 140 mm tall; glabrous; apex rounded, bright orange red to red;opaque.
Stipe:cylindrical, but not clearly differentiated.
Flesh: firm but fragile.
Spore print: white.
Notes: thisfungus is characterized by its tall upright, clavate, orange red to red fruiting bodies growing singly in deep litter. Almost certainly Clavaria miniata which also occurs in Australia.Patrick Leonard 2019
