Cap: convex with a central depression, umbilicate; 12 - 35 mms diameter;fibrillose, silky, shiny;concentric bands indistinct; dark chestnut to sepia; margin acute, rounded.

Stipe: central, cylindrical, branched in to two, with a sub bulbous base; 15 - 35 × 5- 7 mms; tomentose; greyish sepia.

Pores: adnate;angular

Flesh: thin,tough. darkchestnut.

Notes: This fungus is recognized by its silky shiny dark chesnut coloured cap and greyish black stipe. Similar to C. cinnamomea but not identical. Further data needed to determine if this is distinct.
