Description
Pileus: convex becoming applanate; up to 30 - 50 mm diameter; fibrillose, dry; margin acute and wavy.
Stipe: cylindrical; 40 – 50 × 8 – 10 mm; fibrillose; dry; pale blue overlain by dark blue fibres.
Gills:a dnexed; moderately spaced; dark blue with a paler margin; lamellulae present in two intercalated series.
Flesh:
Spore print: rusty brown.

Notes: this Cortinarius is a little like C. atrolazulinus with very dark blue coloured gills but the cap and stipe are paler than that species.
