Pileus: convex; up  to 35 mm diameter; covered in pales squamules; dry, dark brown with contrasting pale squamules.

Stipe: cylindrical; to 50 mm high; white; fibrillose and squamulose; insitious.

Notes: this fungus was identified as a Cyptotrama in the field. There are no details of its gill or spore colour. It is quite possibly a Psathyrella in the P. cotonea group.
