Description
Cap: perennial bracket, broadly convex to applanate; 40 - 70 mm diameter; almost smooth with concentric rings at margin; resinous, laccate; black; margin more or less blunt.
Stipe: irregularly cylindrical, attached dorsally; 40 – 110 × 6 – 12 mm; laccate; black.
Pores: white to cream; round; pore surface flat and horizontal to the ground.
Flesh: hard, corky; dark brown, cream in tubes.
Spore print: reddish brown.

Notes: This fungus is recognizedby its broadly convex, black, laccate fruiting body with a dorsally attached stipe. This is possibly G. concinnum but further macroscopic and microscopic details are required to confirm a diagnosis to species.
