Description

Medium or small size insects.


Adults and larvae are coprophagous, sometimes mycophagous, or carpophagous, more rarely necrophagous or saprophagous, or more rarely still myrmecophilic.


165 species in Australia (in 1991), with a large majority of endemic, but no endemic form currently known from New Caledonia.
