Trimenia neocaledonica is an endemic small tree of New Caledonia spread in the central and north-east part of Grande Terre. It occurs in mid to high alttidude (500-1,040 m asl) forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate. This species does not seem directly threatened. This species has a high phylogenetic importance as it is the only species in New Caledonia of the small family Trimeniaceae which consists of 1 genus (13 species). Trimenia neocaledonica is considered Least Concern (LC).

Unprotected by legislation, this species occurs in two protected areas : Aoupinié, Mont Panié This species has a high phylogenetic importance as it is the only species in New Caledonia of the small family Trimeniaceae which consists of 1 genus (13 species).
