Acianthus oxyglossus is an endemic geophyte orchid of New Caledonia, known only from one single locality on Grande Terre : forêt de N'goye. From botanical description, A. oxyglossus was found in dense humid forest at 200 m. asl. With an uncompleted taxonomic descrption and only one collection dated 1902, A. oxyglossus is assessed under Data Deficient.

From botanical description, A. oxyglossus was found in dense humid forest at 200 m. asl.

Threats


From current data, we can not precisely determine threats to A. oxyglossus.

Conservation


A. oxyglossus is protected by legislation in Province Nord and Province Sud, but does not occur in any protected area. In order to describe properly this species and consequently assess its risk of extinction, it is an emergency to locate again the population in forêt de N'goye.
