Earina floripecten is an endemic terrestrial orchid widespread in Grande Terre, from Mount Kaala in the north to Plum in the south of New Caledonia. It occurs in shrubland or rocky areas on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 450-1,100 m asl. The main impact identified comes from ongoing mining activities. Its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) being respectively estimated to 96 and 5,909 km², Earina floripecten is considered Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii) with a decline of habitat quality and a number of locations close to 10.

Threats


This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities: Vulcain (SMGM), Koniambo (KNS).

Protected by legislation, this species is found in three protected area : Forêt de Saille, la Dumbéa, Mont Do.
