Balgoya pacifica is an endemic liana of New Caledonia discontinuously spread on Grande Terre from Massif du Panié in the north to Rivière Bleue in the south. It occurs in humid forest (occasionnaly shrubland) on ultramafic or volcano-sedimentary substrates at an altitudinal range 180-600 m asl. This species does not seem directly threatened. This is the only species of Polygalaceae in New Caledonia. Balgoya pacifica is considered Least Concern (LC).

Threats
This species does not seem directly threatened.
Conservation
Unprotected by legislation, this species is found in several protected areas : Haute Yaté, Vallée de la Thy, Foret Nord, Aoupinié, Rivière bleue, Mont Panié This is the only species of Polygalaceae in New Caledonia.
