Psychotria trisulcata is an endemic shrub, widespread in Grande Terre from Mandjélia to roches Ouaïème in the North of New Caledonia. It occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate at an altitudinal range 500-980 m asl. The main impact identified may come from bushfires, however it is a forest species and population does not seem to decline. Its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) being respectively estimated to 56 and 310 km², Psychotria trisulcata is considered Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii) with a decline of habitat quality.

Population size is unknown.

Habitat


Psychotria trisulcata occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate at an altitudinal range 500-980 m asl.

Threats


This species does not seem globally threatened. The main impact identified may come from bushfires, however it is a forest species and population does not seem to decline.

Conservation


Psychotria trisulcata is unprotected by legislation and it does occur in one protected area : Mont Panié.
