in Northern ProvinceMedicosma parvifolia is an endemic shrub of Grande Terre in New Caledonia, restricted to the Tontouta valley. It is found in shrubland on an ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 50 m asl. Recurrent bushfires and on-going mining activities in the Tontouta valley may contribute to the degradation of its habitat. This taxon is insufficiently collected and not well known. Medicosma parvifolia is therefore assessed as Data Deficient (DD) for taxonomic and provenance reasons.

Threats

Conservation
This species is protected by legislation in province Nord and province Sud. The genus Medicosma should be taxonomically clarified in order to be able to assess the extinction risks of species. Prospections are needed.
