Liparis disepala is an endemic species of New Caledonia largely distributed on Grande Terre (main island) and Ile des Pins. L. disepala is found in shrubland, humid forest on ultramafic substrate and in gallery forest on schist. With an area of occupancy and an extent of occurrence equal to 152 and 11,519 km² respectively, L. disepala is considered Least Concern.

L. disepala is protected in Province Sud and Province Nord and occurs in five protected areas : réserve naturelle du Pic Ningua, Parc Provincial de la Rivière Bleue, réserve naturelle des Chutes de la Madeleine, Parc de la Dumbéa, réserve naturelle de la Vallée de la Thy.
