Geographical area
Codia montana is spread in the northern half of Grande Terre in New Caledonia, from MéMaoya in the south to the islands Néba and Balabio.
Population
This species can be locally abundant.
Habitat
It is found in various vegetation (shrubland, savanna, forest edges) at low and mid altitude on various substrates.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities. This species can regenerate after a fire (it grows back from the stem or roots).
Conservation
This species is easy to grow in plant nurseries and is used in vegetation restoration. Unprotected by legislation, this species is found in two protected areas : Mont Panié, Nodela.
